Facilities at New Barn Stables

Stables

Stables

We have 14 stables, a secure tack room and separate feed room. Each horse is allocated its own stable even those that tend to live out so that they have somewhere to come in if there is an emergency or just somewhere quiet for them to enjoy a good groom or to tack up in the dry.

School

School

The school is a 20 x 40 arena with an all weather sand and fibre surface. There is a flood light on the school to enable riding after dark.

There is also an enclosed jumping paddock with a selection of show jump, barrels etc available to use when the course is set up in the summer.

Lunge Ring

Lunge Ring

A separate post and railed lunge ring with an all weather surface is located close to the stables.

There is a horse walker available to use for a small additional cost. There will be a new horse walker installed in the near future.

Hacking

Hacking

There is fantastic hacking around the yard with bridleways leading to Charney Bassett and Stanford in the Vale as well as the opportunity to ride through the woods at Buckland Warren and across to Shellingford. There is also all weather gallops available for use by separate arrangement.

Grazing

Grazing

We have separate well managed summer and winter grazing that enables the horses to live out as much as possible. All the grazing is fenced with post and rail fencing and divided with electric tape. All the fields are pooh picked daily and regularly rotated and rested to ensure there is a plentiful supply of good quality grass. We have grazing suitable for all waistlines from those on weight watchers to those that can be employed as resident lawn mowers! The winter fields are on well drained land and sectioned into larger paddocks to prevent the fields getting poached. The summer grazing is sectioned into smaller paddocks to enable the horses to be rotated round regularly according to their grazing needs. A lot of the horses need to live out at all times due to various reasons and we have the grazing to allow this. I try to keep them in pairs or well matched small groups of friends although individual paddocks are available if required.
